Kobe University Summer Program

So far, International Center(IC) in CNU has tried to make wide relationships with other colleges all over the world to provide our school students with various chances to get close the world. Participating in the programs, the students can study languages or cultures in other countries. Actually, with most of the international programs especially of U.S. college or any other European college, our school has not made mutual relationship smoothly. But this summer, IC gets re-started a summer international program, ‘Kobe University Summer Program’, by good case not unilaterally but mutually.

Originally, this program was started in 2006 with studying interchange agreement of the college of Law of CNU and Kobe University. But, with some problems of operation, it had not been conducted. As making progress of IC program, International Summer School, we came to attract international students from other countries and there were several Kobe University students. Later, Kobe University suggested CNU joining the programs it hosts and giving scholarship. “Then form 2010, this program is re-started. It is a meaningful case that CNU gets mutual relationship. So, CNU students can get many benefits through this program.” said Kim Sae-jeong of IC. For this year, already 2 participants are selected, as it has a lot of merits, we can wait next chance.

The students participating in this program would get educated or study Japanese and experience Japanese cultures for 3 weeks. In this year, the participants will stay Japan 26 July to 12 August. There will be other activities like Japanese culture lecture, cultural field trip, home stay and getting along with Kobe and even other students come from other countries such as Hong Kong, U.S, and Sweden. As Kobe University will give whole the scholarship to the participants for tuition, text book, lodging and so they just need to pay flight fare and living expenses. The participants couldn’t get a credit because this is very short and for few students but if thinking about the benefits, it is a good chance. The applicants for this program should get a certificate of second level of JLPT or over 700 grades of JPT. The participants of 2006, Kang Hui-jeong said, “It was short but strong experience making my whole life change. Still now, I get in touch with friend getting along when I was there. This program gave me friends, family in my home stay and positive mind. Try it.”CNU expects more mutual international programs like this program.
