A lot of people hesitate to try something new or a seemingly impossible thing and worry a lot before trying to do it. It is probably because they feel fear if they would fail or be damaged by their venture. Nevertheless, there are many people who challenge something that most people are reluctant to try. They, though, sometimes meet awkward situations from their challenges, they still say confidently, “Challenge! You could get precious experience from it.”

Last summer vacation, I went to England with a colleague in order to cover English universities. I worried whether we would not get good results and would be in danger in unfamiliar places although it was not the first time to go abroad for covering foreign universities. It is because we should live without a guide or a supervisor, and meet executive officers of famous English universities, merely as student reporters.

In the first instance, we underwent difficulties because we often got lost or were nervous when we interviewed university officials. We, however, did not get frustrated. We headed for our destination by asking English people with poor English skills and body language. Although it took about one or two hours to reach each destination, we found them mostly. And when we interviewed, we lead interviews with confidence that we are the representatives of Chonnam National University. Life in England and the coverage about the universities were favorably progressed unlike what we worried about earlier in the journey.

Before going to London, we were really concerned about many things. However, when we were confronted with real situations in London and treated it with a positive mind, we could overcome all the difficulties I mentioned above. Fortunately, English people were also very kind. When we were wandering the streets, they informed us of the way to go by telling slowly so that we could understand easily, and some people even guided us. Also, English interviewees treated us as valuable guests and sincerely answered our questions.

I got courage and confidence from the experiences in England and will surmount any difficulty whenever I am in trouble. You do not need to worry a lot or shrink into an unfamiliar world or adverse condition before you actually meet them. It is meaningful that you try to overcome these difficulties yourself. Although you would be in trouble or fail in what you challenged, your challenges are not useless but valuable. These frustrations and failures would give great instructions to you during your life. Do not hesitate and be afraid to tackle difficult challenges! Just think positively!
