Powerful Words: Thank You!

By Jung Hyun-young, Head Student Editor

Last May was a wonderful month. I felt a sense of gratitude beyond expression because there were some special occasions such as Parents' Day and Teacher's Day. Sometimes, when I am grateful for a relationship, even if it is not perfect, it miraculously gets even better. Gratitude can magically turn our relationships into joyful and meaningful ones. If we apply this feeling to our whole lives beyond the relationships, it also will increase our level of happiness. Unfortunately, it is easy to complain about our current situation. Many people in general are ungrateful, even though there are many things to be grateful for in our lives.
Gratitude, giving thanks, is a feeling of thankfulness. This feeling is good for your mental health and can improve our life by changing our attitude. If you increase your feelings of gratitude, your life will be better on a similar level to your feelings. The more grateful you are, the faster your life will change. If you practice gratitude, you will understand why particular things in your life may have gone wrong, and why certain things might be missing from your life. If you make gratitude a way of life, you will wake up each morning so excited to be alive. You will find yourself being in love completely with life because gratitude makes you feel as light as a feather and happier than we have ever felt before.
This is my last column. I heartily thank the readers who have loved the Chonnam Tribune, all of the Reporters, Executive Editor, family, friends and my boyfriend Suk-won. Since I became Head Student Editor at the Chonnam Tribune, I have expressed my personal opinion through this column, and it has been a very precious experience. For my last column, I want to emphasize one thing to you. Give thanks to everything and express it. To live in gratitude, ‘Thank you’ must become the most powerful words which make us happier and change our lives more than any other words. Thank you!
